BOARD OF MANAGEMENT

ARA CLUB NEWS

The club is organising a trip to Mount Usher Gardens on Tuesday, April 17, including tour via Glendaloug­h, Avoca, Roundwood and evening meal in Ashford Chester Beatty hotel. 50.00 including entry to gardens, evening meal and coach. Contact Ann Rochford 087 6677411 to book your seat.

EASTER DRAW

Again this year we have our Easter Draw with three lovely Hampers as prizes. Draw will take place on Easter Sunday, April 1, in Londis Piercestow­n at 11 a.m. Lines are €2 each or three lines for €5, on sale from all ARA Members and in Londis Supermarke­t Piercestow­n. thank you for your continued support – it is much appreciate­d by all the members.

SCOUT GROUP NEWS

Congratula­tions to five beavers, four cubs, five scouts who were invested in Piercestow­n Scout and Guide Hall on Sunday last. Congratula­tions to Jenny Lane Boynt, Micheál Crotty and Adrienne Doyle, who were invested as leaders also at the investitur­e. There was a presentati­on of Sixer and Seconder Badges to cubs Tommy Murphy, Matthew Byrne and Noah Davidson. Commission­ers award went to Scout Ciaran O’Connor. Best Cub on camp went to Noah Davidson Best Scout on camp went to Caleb Davidson.

The group enjoyed a visit of the Wexford Marine Watch group on Tuesday last, and special thanks to them for giving of their time to the group. All sections are now busy planning for the upcoming county events and their annual camps in the summer time, as well as their own activities within their own sections. Big thank you to all parents who came along to the event and who provided the sandwiches, cakes, buns, biscuits for the occasion, this is very much appreciate­d by everyone involved in the group.

As usual our deep gratitude and appreciati­on to Bernie Codd and Kitty Walsh, who do so much work in looking after the leaders, youth members and visitors to our events.

The local swim competitio­n will take place this Friday March 9 at 5 p.m. in Ferrybank Pool. U8, U10 will swim 1 length, U12-U16 2 lengths. Contact Avril at 086 1541153.
