Free workshops for filmmakers in St Michael’s
A FREE scriptwriting and acting workshop will be hosted at St Michael’s Theatre in New Ross for teenage filmmakers based in County Wexford.
The three-day scriptwriting workshop will be facilitated by award winning writer and director Laura Way. Laura’s production company, Bodeci Films, develops original indigenous TV and film in Wexford town.
She is currently running the screen actors program in the
Gaiety School of Acting and was writer-director for the 2017 graduate showcase.
The workshop will begin on Saturday, March 24 and continue on Tuesday, April 3, and Wednesday, April 4, from
10 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day. Participants will learn how to write and develop a script. Anybody interested in writing is strongly encouraged to apply.
Award winning actor John
Crosbie will facilitate a two-day workshop on ‘Acting for the
Screen’. The workshop dates are Thursday, April 5, and Friday, April 6, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. John also facilitated this popular workshop last year. No previous experience is required to participate in either workshop.
Therese Dalton, co-ordinator of The County Wexford Youth Film Project, said: ‘This is a fantastic opportunity for young filmmakers and we are delighted to have both Laura and John on board to facilitate these workshops, which hosts filmmaking workshops throughout the year at St Michael’s Theatre in New Ross.’
This programme is funded by St Michael’s Theatre and The Arts Department of Wexford County Council. Places are free to teenagers across County Wexford.
