43 new houses for Rosslare Strand
THE government has given the go-ahead for the construction of 43 new houses in Rosslare.
The €7.3 million in funding for the new development is due to be approved this week and will be administered by Wexford County Council.
Minister Paul Kehoe said the 43 homes, to be built at Rosetown, will be funded through the government’s capital programme and is the latest in a series of developments announced in the county.
‘Housing remains a massive issue in Rosslare and I am determined to put pressure on my colleagues in government to deliver more homes through the likes of this scheme,’ said Minister Kehoe.
Two other schemes have also been announced, 35 houses at Ard Uisce, Whiterock, Wexford Town, and 22 units at Gleann an Ghairdin, Ballytegan Road, Gorey, the projects costing more than €13 million.
Senior Housing Officer Padraig O’Gorman told yesterday’s monthly meeting of Wexford County Council that the Departments’ approval to the turnkey projects is the result of a complex negotiation process that commenced in 2017.
‘In order to fastrack our delivery of social housing, Wexford County Council is seeking to secure turnkey housing developments in a number of locations throughout the county,’ said Mr O’Gorman.
