Stolen BMW seized at port

GARDAI at Rosslare Europort seized a stolen BMW 520 as it was about to board the Stena ferry to France.

The car, being driven by two non-nationals, had UK licence plates, however, gardai checked its chassis number and discovered the vehicle was Irish-registered and had been stolen in Clane.

‘It was stopped and searched as part of our Operation Mutiny checkpoints at the port,’ said Inspector Denis Whelan, ‘it had a fake UK licence plate fitted.’
