Centre benefits from annual lunch

-

THE ANNUAL Soroptimists Charity Lunch raised a total of €6,600 for the Rape Crisis and Sexual Abuse Support Service.

The Wexford branch President of the Soroptimists Mary Kerr recently presented a cheque for that amount to centre chairperson Mairead Sinnott and centre manager Clare Williams.

The annual lunch is always held to mark Nollaig na mBán and this year, the actual date fell on Sunday, the usual day of the event, which welcomed over 220 people.

Ms Kerr said: ‘We’re delighted to support what is a very important service. The centre has a waiting list and it is hoped that these funds will help to alleviate that pressure. None of us knows when this issue might arise for our own loved ones.’
