Fined for littering at bring centre in Tesco car park

-

Three county council staff members gave evidence as the local authority prosecuted Damien Godkin of 48 Cromwellsfort Avenue, Wexford for a litter offence.

First into the witness box at the District Court was Eamonn Kelly, the man who inspected the scene of the offence in January of last year.

He told the judge how he found six or seven rubbish bags at the bring centre in the Wexford Tesco car park.

He went through the dumped material and found paperwork linking Godkin to the rubbish.

He told how he brought the evidence to his environment section supervisor Billy Byrne who was witness number two.

The court heard that a €150 postal fine was sent to the defendant and this was confirmed by witness number three – assistant staff officer Stephen Forbes

The fine was not paid, so the matter was referred to court, where there was no sign of Godkin.

He was fined €300 for littering, with five months allowed for payment, with €200 costs (plus VAT) added to the bill
