Driver banned for two years

Father-of-four Ethan Kennedy (24) from 12 Curracloe Holiday Villas, Curracloe was spared a fine when his motor insurance summons was dealt with at Gorey District Court.

However, Judge John Cheatle had no alternative but ban the accused from driving for two years.

The case arose after Garda Vincent Downes stopped a Volkswagen Passat at Shannon Hill last June.

The court took account of the fact that Kennedy had a previous conviction on his record for a similar offence, dating back to 2011.
