Bench warrant for arrest

Failing to appear to answer to a charge of cultivating cannabis has resulted in a bench warrant being issued for the arrest of Sean Whitney (43) of Garryvarren, Ballymurn.

The court heard that the case had previously been adjourned to allow Whitney to pay €1,000 to the Cornmarket Project.

Gardaí were unaware if this had been complied with and there was no sign of the defendant when called, so they immediately requested a bench warrant and Judge John Cheatle complied.
