Court orders defendant to pay neighbour £250
Dean O’Leary (20) of 25 King St, Wexford was told by Judge John Cheatle to pay €250 to his neighbour Lisa Jordan.
The District Court learned how O’Leary hosted a loud house party in December of 2016.
At 4.40 a.m. she shouted at him to be quiet, and her intervention prompted O’Leary to threaten to damage her vehicle.
Next morning she came out to find that her tyre was slashed.
The defendant was charged with threatening/abusive behaviour.
Solicitor Tim Cummings said that the events described occurred at a time when his client was not working and he was drinking heavily.
The court also took account of O’Leary’s public drunkenness at King Street on September 2, 2016.
He had no previous convictions and Judge John Cheatle offered him a way of keeping his clean record.
While the judge was not suggesting that the accused was the one who damaged the car, he felt that a payment of €250 would be appropriate.
O’Leary was allowed until May 21 to raise the money.
