Wexford Guides welcome new members

-

WEXFORD GUIDES gathered at Bride Street Church recently for their enrolment night for 2018 and to welcome new members in each of the four categories of Cygnets, Brigins, Guides and Rangers.

Maggie Tyrell, a Leader with the group, who oversees the Cygnet activities, said they were very happy with the turnout. She pointed out that the Wexford Guides is in existence for over 70 years and has prided itself on encouraging children to get out and about and interact with others their age, and to learn more about themselves in the process.

Various activities were planned for the year ahead, she said, remarking that the Guides and Rangers would be attending a camp in London in June while other day trips and activities were planned for all groups.

New leaders and members are always welcome, she said, encouraging anyone who was interested in getting involved to come along to the relevant meeting during the week.

The Cygnets (ages five to seven) meet at the Dun Mhuire on Wednesday evenings from 6.30 p.m. to 7.30 p.m. The Brigins (ages seven to 10) meet on Mondays, in the same place, from 6.30 p.m. to 8 p.m. The Guides (ages 10 to 17) and Rangers (ages 14 to 19) meet on Tuesdays at the Dun Mhuire from 6.30 p.m. to 8.30 p.m.
