Bunclody beat leaders

Gorey Rangers suffer their first league defeat

Premier Division

Bunclody dented Gorey Rangers’ title hopes as they eked out a 3-2 victory over the Premier Division leaders in Ramstown on Sunday.

Chris Atkinson, Severin Gadzina and Timmy Halpin got the goals for the winners, with Adam Territ and Seán Roche hitting the back of the net for Rangers, who suffered their first league defeat of the season.

Champions North End United have plenty of games in hand and they picked up three points on Sunday with a hard-fought win over Courtown Hibs. Brothers Paul and Jason Murphy got the goals for the Sky Blues in a 2-1 victory, with Jack O’Brien replying for Hibs.

Elsewhere, Moyne Rangers overcame Tombrack United 2-0 (see focus match).

Division 1

Division 1 leaders St. Leonards got back to winning ways with a 3-1 victory over Ferns United on Sunday.

Seán ‘Mini’ Ryan helped himself to a double, with Donal Kiely grabbing their other goal and Martin Redmond replying for Ferns.

Wexford Bohs certainly have silverware in their sights, and they continued their great run of form with a 5-2 win in Campile.

Todd Hynes (two), Seán Pailing, Jack Murphy and Dermot Flood got the goals for the Wexford town outfit, with Darragh Kent and Cian Gleeson scoring for the hosts.

Forth Celtic are also pushing for promotion and they added three points to their tally with a 2-0 win in Kilmore, with Ryan Busher and Lee Busher getting their goals.

Division 2

Killenagh Wanderers chalked up a convincing win over Wexford Celtic in the only game to survive the elements in Division 2.

Martin Flynn netted a hat-trick for Wanderers, who ran out 4-0 winners, with Pat Naughter grabbing their other goal.

Stoney Rovers picked up three points without having to kick a ball as they were handed a walkover from Fastnet Rovers.

Division 3

Division 3 leaders Enniscorth­y United picked up a precious point in Duncannon in the top of the table clash on Sunday.

The seasiders took the lead through Devin Wall-Walsh, but Conor Heffernan replied to earn United a share of the spoils.

Forth Celtic proved much too strong for bottom side Ajax Athletic and hit them for six without reply.

Aaron Whitty helped himself to a hat-trick, with Anthony Hayes, Darren Jordan and Adam Feery adding a goal apiece.

Division 3A

Raheen closed the gap on the top two in Division 3A with a convincing 4-1 win over Shelburne on Sunday.

Their goals came from Peter Finn, an own goal and Frank Staples, with Mark Cowman netting the pick of the bunch, clinically finishing to the corner of the net after a neat backheel.

Meanwhile, second-placed Rathnure were beaten 3-2 by Fethard Rangers. Anthony Westnott fired the title-chasers in front but Graham O’Grady drew Fethard level before the interval.

O’Grady grabbed his second to edge the hosts in front early in the second-half, but Westnott did likewise to draw Rathnure level with 20 minutes remaining.

However, Jean-Luc Tubritt had the final say in the dying moments, as he chased a long ball over the Rathnure defence and fired low past the goalkeeper to win the match for the seasiders.

Division 4

Ferns United leapfrogge­d Carne FC to move out of the bottom three with a 4-3 win over their rivals on Sunday. Fintan Mullins netted a hat-trick for Carne but his efforts proved to be in vain, with Ferns replying through Niall Davitt, Stephen Davitt, Keith Breen and an own goal.
