TV dance shows Abby has talent!

- By MARIA PEPPER

TEENAGE Enniscorthy girl Abby Ormond was in the national spotlight on Sunday night as she danced for the judges and the nation on Ireland Has Talent on TV3.

Abby has been a student of the Wexford School of Ballet and Performing Arts since she was three years love. Her great love is ballet but she also takes modern dance classes.

She danced the lead in the school’s production of The Nutcracker in a packed National Opera House last Christmas. She loves to perform and her love of dance shines through in every movement she makes.

‘Abby is very gifted and has a bright future ahead of her. She is a super talented young dancer’, said her teacher Suzanne O’ Leary.

The young dancer entered Ireland Has Talent via a video link and a few weeks later, she was contacted by TV3 informing her she didn’t have to do the next auditions round in Dublin but was straight through to the judges.

Abby then found herself on the live shows. She spent a full day filming with the other contestants and judges.

When it came to her piece, she felt the stage was very slippy but like a true professional she continued with her performance. When she finished, there was a debate between the four judges as to whether she would go through to the next round.

After much deliberation and what felt like an age, standing along on the stage with the cameras pointed at her, Abby learned that two judges voted yes and two voted no, which wasn’t enough to advance to the next level. It’s an experience that Abby won’t forget and she is already waiting for the next big challenge to come her way.
