Airplay in Canada for ‘Don’t Hate Me’
A YOUNG Wexford rock band is on the way to becoming a hit in Canada after one of its first recordings received significant airplay on local radio stations there.
Solid Blind State, who are based near Enniscorthy, only formed last year but the five-piece act is fast becoming one of the most talked about rock bands on the contemporary Irish circuit.
The band was formed by guitarists Mick McDonagh and Gary Davitt at the beginning of 2017 and they were subsequently joined by singer and frontman Bryan Murphy, Cathal Murphy (bass) and Ryan Cox (drums).
The five immediately set about recording their first EP, ‘Dissident’, which is due for release this year. A track from those recording sessions, ‘Don’t Hate Me’, was picked up by Canadian radio stations and has also received airplay in the UK.
Such is the level of interest in the band across the Atlantic that they have already been interviewed by a radio station in Ontario, where the band’s music is being played alongside such legendary acts as Led Zeppelin, U2 and Guns & Roses.
Here at home two of the band’s tracks were uploaded to the Reverbnation website resulting in Solid Blind State reaching No.1 on the Dublin rock chart and hitting the top 10 in the overall national chart.
To promote their new EP the band will be playing a gig at Fibber McGee’s in Dublin on May 3.
However, they are also putting together dates for an Irish tour and local fans can expect to see a Wexford home date included.
