Breen the Taghmon hero

Wexford Volkswagen Cup

Anthony Breen was the hat-trick hero for Taghmon United as they dumped top flight outfit Tombrack out of the Wexford Volkswagen Cup in their fourth round tie on Sunday.

Seamie McLoughlin got the other goal for the Division 2 side, with Eoghan Murphy replying for Tombrack.

Gorey Celtic were another Premier Division side that were left licking their wounds, when they were beaten 3-2 by Division 1 high-flyers Rosslare Rangers.

Mark Furlong (two) and Rob Cousins scored for the winners, with Des Wolohan and Matty Kavanagh hitting the back of the net for Celtic.

Gorey Rangers kept the flag flying for the north county town as they eased past Adamstown 4-1.

Seán Roche netted a double for the Premier Division leaders, with Eric Quinn and Joe Bolger also getting their names on the scoresheet and Ian White replying for Adamstown.

Courtown Hibs are also safely through after seeing off Wexford Bohs ‘B’ 3-0, with goals from Leighton Gleeson, Colum Kinsella and Daniel O’Brien.

Forth Celtic edged out Cushinstow­n 3-2 thanks to a Lee Busher double and an own goal, with Nicky Sinnott and Jason Dunne hitting the back of the net for the hosts.

Five-star Ferns United breezed into the next round by beating Fethard Rangers 5-0, with Martin Redmond and Ivan Meegan contributi­ng doubles and Adrian Breen also getting in on the act.

Neil O’Sullivan Cup

Goalkeeper Danielius Niekis was the hero for New Ross Town as they booked their place in the semi-final of the Neil O’Sullivan Cup at the expense of Division 2 leaders Cloughbawn.

Niekis saved three spot-kicks in a row to see his side through 3-2 on penalties after a 1-1 draw.

Páidí Cullen got the goal for Cloughbawn, with Stephen O’Leary hitting the back of the net for Town.

Billy Browne Cup

Crossabeg edged out The Ballagh 5-4 on penalties on Sunday. to book their place in the semi-final of the Billy Browne Cup.

The sides were deadlocked at 1-1 after extra-time, with Alex Wilson scoring for the eventual winners and Michael Reddy replying for The Ballagh.

An Adam Devereux goal was enough for All Blacks to reach the last four as they edged out Oylegate United 1-0, while Emmet Byrne, Jason Ellard and Daniel Halligan scored for Rosslare Rangers ‘B’ in their 3-1 win over Camolin Celtic.

Luke O’Neill and Eddie Pitman hit the back of the net for Wexford Albion in their 2-1 win over Bridge Rovers ‘B’, with the Castlebrid­ge side scoring through an own goal.

Gwyn Jones Cup

Gorey Celtic ‘B’ are through to the semi-final of the Gwyn Jones Cup after they came from behind to see off Glynn Barntown 2-1 on Sunday.

Chris Doyle fired Glynn Barntown in front on the stroke of half-time, but late goals from Colm Stafford and Danny Dixon sent the north county men through.

Patrick Somers was the main man for Kiltealy Celtic, scoring all four goals for his side as they overcame Killenagh Wanderers ‘B’ 4-2, while Shane Grannell and Tony Ryan both converted penalties and Ian Devlin added a double as Boolavogue beat Camolin 4-3.

Enniscorth­y United ‘B’ are also in the last four after edging out Campile United ‘B’ 2-1. Goals from Joe Millar and Mick Rigley had the Enniscorth­y men 2-0 up and, although James Keating pulled one back, they made it safely through.
