Tango completes Roche double

-

THERE WAS a great crowd in attendance at Enniscorthy Greyhound Track on Easter Sunday for a cracking night’s racing featuring the quarter-final of the Red Mills Unraced Stake.

And with some runners changing hands for very good money, the trend continued after the action.

Fawn Tango continued to show his improvement with a fine run in heat one as he locked horns with hot favourite Ninja Burgess.

As they went neck and neck down the back, onlookers may well have expected Ninja to get the better of things, but Tango was not for beating this time and he ran home the stronger to score by two and a half lengths in a good 29.07.

This completed a nice double for Barntown owner George Roche as his Swan Diver had just won the race before by a wide margin.

Genuine Blake continued his good run in the competition when he made his move to the lead at the third bend and came home a clearcut winner by six and a half lengths to take heat two in a good 29.08.

Heat three saw Coolside Walker get out well from traps and lead, but he was all out to the slightly unlucky Ballinaboola Mia who suffered a bump early on and only failed by a short head to catch Coolside in a time of 29.19.

Heat four, the last of the quarters, saw hot favourite Boylesport Boom having to work hard enough before coming out two and a half lengths to the good in a time of 29.16.

Fawn Tango will be a non-runner in this week’s semi, but there will be a lot of running yet before a winner of this prize of €4,000.
