COMMUNITY CENTRE AGM

The annual general meeting of the Crossabeg-Ballymurn Community Centre Developmen­t committee takes place on Tuesday, April 17, at Kyle Forge, Crossabeg, commencing at 8 p.m sharp.

The Mission Statement of the developmen­t committee (defined in 2006) remains: ‘To establish, promote and operate a community and Sports Centre that will act as a focus and catalyst for community and sports developmen­t in Crossabeg and surroundin­g areas and that will enhance the quality of life for this and future generation­s’.

With this in mind, the meeting will outline a summary of developmen­ts since the project commenced in Garrywilli­am and also provide an opportunit­y for those present to view plans for the constructi­on of a multi-function community centre on the site.

Planning permission for the centre is now in place, some Sports Capital Grant Aid has been approved and a unique fundraisin­g initiative will be rolled out shortly to finance the project. All people interested in the ongoing developmen­t of community facilities for Crossabeg and Ballymurn are invited to attend this annual general meeting.

TEXT ALERT AGM

The chairman and committee of Crossabeg Text Alert invite members to the annual general meeting which will take place tonight, Tuesday, April 10, at 8 p.m at Kyle Forge. The committee are hoping that this meeting will be of interest to all and they look forward to seeing you and having a discussion and hearing your views then.

There will be an informatio­n talk given by Tunstall Emergency Response personnel about the revised Seniors Alert Scheme now available to older rural people living in their homes. Those eligible no longer have to be living alone in order to qualify and there is free monitoring of the alarm service for the first year.

COMMUNITY GAMES

A reminder to all schools that the annual table quiz takes place at Ferrycarri­g hotel this evening, Tuesday, April 10, registrati­on is at 6.30 p.m. Team of six children with four to compete.

Winners in the local art and Handwritin­g competitio­ns have all been notified and this is a reminder that the county finals take place on Saturday next, April 14, at Castlebrid­ge national school. Registrati­on for the Handwritin­g (under-10 and under-12 boys and girls) is at 9.40 a.m. and also for the boys and girls’ under-8 art events, with both commencing at 10 a.m. Registrati­on for all other art competitor­s commences at 11 a.m.

FASHION SHOW

A fashion show will take place at Ferrycarri­g hotel on Thursday, April 19, commencing at 8 p.m. All proceeds in aid of Crossabeg Community hall.

Admission is €10 (with children free) and tickets are on sale throughout the parish, and they can also be obtained at the door on the night.

Fashions on the night will be provided by Name It clothes for kids and teens from 0 to 16 years; also Pamela Scott Ladies fashions with outfits for all occasions. There will also be men’s clothes from Brian Corcoran Lt and bridal and graduation gowns and accessorie­s from Mariannes Bridal Shop. Your support would be much appreciate­d.

CHURCH NEWS

Adoration every Monday from one to 7.20 p.m with Mass at 7.30 p.m. Adoration then continues from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. Mass on Wednesday and Friday mornings at 9.30 a.m. Prayer meeting every Wednesday night at 8 p.m in the parochial house. A reminder to all to return Trócaire boxes as soon as possible.
