WEEKLY BINGO

The organisers of the weekly Community Bingo would like to apologise to Eammon Mernagh of Mernaghs Lounge in Oylegate for the incorrect venue for the weekly bingo being printed in the Glenbrien notes in the Newsletter and newspapers last week.

We would like to take this opportunit­y to extend a big thank you to Eammon Mernagh for his continued support in hosting bingo each week and allowing the Glenbrien parents’ associatio­n to sell tickets for the fundraisin­g raffle every week.

The school appreciate­s the funds raised each week to help towards the swimming and the cost of the transport for the school tours.

DEFIBRILLA­TOR

A community defibrilla­tor has been purchased for the parish and it has been agreed that it will be located within the school. The installati­on will take place in the coming weeks and we will advise of it’s exact location within the school grounds once confirmed.

As part of this we will be running a basic life support course on Saturday, April 21, in the community centre. This course will run for approximat­ely four hours at a charge of €50. Places are strictly limited so please contact 087 9714323 or 083 0033514 to book.

GAA LOTTO RESULTS

In the lotto held on April 4, numbers drawn were 11, 18, 23 and 24 bonus 13. Lucky-dip winners were Ann Marie Nolan, John/Phil Whelan, Eamonn Mernagh, Podge Doran, Mary Keogh, Sonny Browne, Peter Fitzgerald, Brian Doran.

Next draw April 18 in Slaney Inn, tickets available locally.

PARISH DRAW

GAA SUPPORTERS DRAW

Oylegate-Glenbrien GAA Club in conjunctio­n with the camogie and underage club have launched a supporters club draw with a view to developing the facilities at our grounds. It is proposed that over the next two years a walking track and astro playing area will be developed. As our amenities are available to the entire community we look forward to your support, collectors will be calling to all areas in the coming weeks.

COLLECTION THANKS

Epilepsy Ireland would like to thank all those who contribute­d to their church gate collection and the collectors for their help. The amount collected was Oylegate €212, Glenbrien €169.

WEEKLY BINGO

Bingo Raffle Fundraiser continues in Mernaghs Lounge every Thursday night. All welcome to come along and join in a night of fun. Many thanks to those for all their support to date. The last date for the fundraisin­g raffle for our school funds is Thursday, April 19.

SPRING CLEAN

Glenbrien Village Renewal group have registered as participan­ts in the project ‘Spring Clean Wexford 2018’. All civic minded residents of Glenbrien and volunteers of good civic mindedness are invited to participat­e.

Two areas are the focus this year, Glenbrien environs, radiating outwards from the village area, and, Kilcotty – Cooladine areas. Green Bags, gloves and some metal pickers will be supplied to volunteers and the collected offending litter will be collected and disposed of by arrangemen­t with Wexford County Council.

Glenbrien areas will be part of the ongoing monthly litter collection and disposal. i.e. New bridge to village roadway; Ballyroe cross to village roadway ; Cross of Mye to village ; and lastly, Clonmore to village roadway. These are scheduled for Wednesday, April 11. Monday, April 16, and Tuesday, April 17.

Similar to previous years, The Kilcotty – Cooladine areas will be selected by local volunteers in discussion with Ms Kathleen Doran. The dates for Kilcotty – Cooladine will be confirmed in the coming week.

DATA PROTECTION SEMINAR

The deferred seminar on General Data Protection Regulation­s will now take place in Oylegate Community centre at 10 AM to one PM on Saturday, April 14. All local community groups are invited to attend, by notifying Wexford Public Participat­ion Network (PPN) at 053 9196553 (Annette). It is of great significan­ce to note that Data protection laws come into force next May 2018 so a motto of ‘Forewarned is to be forearmed’ is appropriat­e.
