GAA NOTES
The under-9 hurlers had an amazing day representing the club in Croke Park on Wednesday last. A total of 94 people left the village including players and supporters. The lads also got to visit the dressing rooms, the entrance tunnel and also got to step on the winning podium.
There will be a junior football championship fixture this weekend. Unfortunately at the time of writing the day and time had not been fixed. Keep an eye on your website blackwater.gaa.ie for the update on this.
The intermediate hurlers defeated Celbridge from Kildare in the Leinster League 1-18 to 1-8 to qualify top of the table undefeated for the quarter finals. These will be played in May.
Well done to the Junior B hurlers on their 5-08 to 0-03 win against the Shamrocks in Division 6 of the league. Shane O’Leary with three of the goals and Declan O’Leary with two in the first half.
The under-13 footballers play tonight (Tuesday) at home against Kilrush in there first game at 6.45. On Thursday the under-15 footballers play Craanford at 7 p.m. Then on Monday the last outing before the break for the minor hurlers when they play Shelmaliers at home at 7 p.m.
The minor hurlers lost there second round match to away recently. The lads were only one point down at half time but couldn’t catch the amalgamation team and lost out by five in the end. The lads will play them again later in the year.
Congratulations to Nigel and Sinéad Cullen and James O’Brien, Ashfield, who were the March monthly draw winners, both receive €100. Many thanks again to all members for their support.
