Warrant for arrest of driver (70)

-

A WARRANT was issued for the arrest of 70-year-old Anthony Molloy of Bryanstown, Foulksmills as he failed to show up at the District Court sitting in Wexford to deal with a motor insurance charge.

Judge Gerard Haughton decided to go ahead in the absence of the accused and hear evidence from Garda Anne Marie Myler.

She told how she came across Molloy at Newbawn on July 15 last when he was driving a 1997 Galway registered vehicle.

He failed to produce evidence that he was insured and Garda Myler also noted that he had no licence and no valid NCT.

The bench warrant was made out by Judge Haughton once he heard that the no-show defendant had a record of 31 previous convictions and that he already stood disqualified from driving for six years in 2010 following a conviction, also for driving without insurance.
