Driver banned from road for two years and fined €3,100

-

IRENE Goff from 4 Redwood Park, Murrintown was banned from driving for two years after Judge Gerard Haughton imposed a motor insurance conviction.

Fines adding up to a total of €3,100 were also handed down in the absence of the offending motorist at Wexford District Court.

The case went ahead after solicitor Ed King confirmed that he was not representing the accused driver.

First into the witness box was Garda Richie Murray who told the court how he found Ms Goff’s Ford Focus parked without the necessary permit in a bay reserved for the use of disabled people.

Then Garda Edward Widger gave his evidence of stopping the same red-coloured Focus at a checkpoint in Piercestown.

The vehicle had no valid tax disc exhibited and no evidence of insurance cover being in place was ever produced by the defendant.

She was fined €2,000 for the insurance offence and put off the road for two years, with €1,100 in fines marked on the various other summonses.
