Live Reg­is­ter fig­ure falls in Wex­ford

THE num­ber of peo­ple sign­ing on the Live Reg­is­ter in Wex­ford has dropped in the last year ac­cord­ing to the lat­est Cen­tral Statis­tics Of­fice fig­ures.

It has re­duced by 12 per cent in the last year, which equates to 1,418 more peo­ple back to work.

Ac­cord­ing to the CSO, there were a to­tal of 10,614 on the Live Reg­is­ter in Wex­ford in March 2018, a drop of 1,418 from the March 2017 fig­ure of 12,032.

Ma­jor­ity of these were sign­ing on in Wex­ford town with a to­tal of 3,558. In En­nis­cor­thy, 2,769 signed on while 2,401 signed on in Gorey. The re­main­ing 1,886 signed on in New Ross. All four towns saw a re­duc­tion in num­bers of peo­ple sign­ing on since last year with a drop of 594 in Wex­ford, drop of 315 in En­nis­cor­thy, a drop of 314 in Gorey and a drop of 195 in New Ross.

Of the 10,614 peo­ple on the reg­is­ter, a to­tal of 749 were men under the age of 25, while 5,147 were men aged 25 years up­wards. There were a to­tal of 5,896 men listed in March.

There were 4,718 women in March, 552 of whom were aged under the age of 25, while the re­main­ing 4,166 were aged 25 years up­wards.

There are over 10,000 peo­ple sign­ing on in County Wex­ford.
