Man who tried to rob store is re­manded in cus­tody

A 24-year-old Wex­ford town man who pleaded guilty to the at­tempted rob­bery of a shop in Kilmore Quay has been fur­ther re­manded in cus­tody for sen­tenc­ing.

John Roche, of 41 Liam Mel­lows Park, pleaded guilty be­fore Judge Cor­mac Quinn at Wex­ford Cir­cuit Crim­i­nal Court to at­tempt­ing to rob John Brady at Brady’s Mace Shop, the Burrow, Kilmore Quay, on Septem­ber 8, 2017.

De­fence Coun­sel Jor­dan Fletcher, who said a guilty plea is be­ing en­tered, asked for the prepa­ra­tion of a Pro­ba­tion and Welfare re­port and that sen­tenc­ing be ad­journed to al­low for such a re­port.

Pros­e­cut­ing Coun­sel Sinead Gleeson, also re­quested the prepa­ra­tion of a Vic­tim Im­pact state­ment.

Grant­ing the ap­pli­ca­tions, Judge Quinn said he would ad­journ sen­tenc­ing to July 17 next with a con­tin­u­ing re­mand in cus­tody.
