Man who tried to rob store is remanded in custody

A 24-year-old Wexford town man who pleaded guilty to the attempted robbery of a shop in Kilmore Quay has been further remanded in custody for sentencing.

John Roche, of 41 Liam Mellows Park, pleaded guilty before Judge Cormac Quinn at Wexford Circuit Criminal Court to attempting to rob John Brady at Brady’s Mace Shop, the Burrow, Kilmore Quay, on September 8, 2017.

Defence Counsel Jordan Fletcher, who said a guilty plea is being entered, asked for the preparatio­n of a Probation and Welfare report and that sentencing be adjourned to allow for such a report.

Prosecutin­g Counsel Sinead Gleeson, also requested the preparatio­n of a Victim Impact statement.

Granting the applicatio­ns, Judge Quinn said he would adjourn sentencing to July 17 next with a continuing remand in custody.
