Talk on raising bilingual kids
A LECTURE on bilingualism will take place at Wexford town library on May 1 at 7 p.m.
Trinity College Dublin professor in clinical speech and language studies, Dr Francesca La Morgia will give a talk entitled ‘Raising Bilingual Children in Ireland’, offering advice on helping kids to develop two languages simultaneaously and strategies to support linguistic development through childhood.
There will also be information about the cognitive, social and educational benefits of bilingualism. Dr La Moriga will answer common questions such as why some bilingual kids prefer one language over another, and whether there is any truth in the suggestion that bilingual kids start speaking later in life or not.
