Driver fails to keep licence

-

Lisa McDermott (38) of 33 Woodview, Castlebridge could not escape a driving ban as she pleaded guilty to a motor insurance offence dealt with at District Court.

The case dated back to the evening of July 29 last year when she was pulled up at the wheel of a Ford Galaxy at a garda checkpoint in Murrintown.

She admitted on the spot that she was not insured.

In court she looked without success to avoid the loss of her licence, telling Judge Gerard Haughton she had a partner and five children, and that she was the only one in the household driving.

She said she was on social welfare and had only recently bought the car which brought her to the attention of gardaí.

She was fined €200 and put off the road for two years.
