Not in­sured driv­ing to work

A car­pen­ter from Tagoat work­ing on the New Ross by­pass drove him­self to work when a work col­league was not avail­able at short no­tice.

The prob­lem con­sid­ered at the District Court was that 45-year-old Kevin Sheil of The Gate Lodge, Hill Cas­tle was not in­sured.

He ex­plained that the fore­man on the site came from May­glass usu­ally gave him a lift.

How­ever, the other man was away in Cork on the date of the ad­mit­ted of­fence, Au­gust 29 last.

Sheil suc­cess­fully pleaded with the judge to be al­lowed re­tain his li­cence but there was no es­cap­ing the fine of €400 which came with the con­vic­tion.
