Impounded and scrapped

Gavin Howard (37) of 9 Windmill Heights, Wexford ran into €200 in fines when he took his newly purchased car onto the road.

The District Court heard that the vehicle had neither tax nor NCT when inspected at Belleville by a member of the garda traffic corps in February of last year. It was impounded and later scrapped. When the matter was considered in the District Court, the judge was told by solicitor Tim Cummings that Howard had bought it three or four days before he encountered the garda.

Two fines of €100 each were imposed.
