Cosmic rebels make a return to the Riverside

- By PÁDRAIG BYRNE

SOME colourful characters invaded The Riverside Park Hotel recently to officially launch the Cosmic Rebels Con which is set to take over the town this weekend, April 21 and 22. Following the huge success of last year’s con towards the end of the year, organisers have decided to make this offering even bigger and better, now taking place in the hotel’s newly renovated function room.

The con will run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily and once again will have plenty of vendors selling all kinds of geeky merchandise from comic books to funko pops, retro action figures and collectibles and hand made items. A wonderful lineup of speakers is also planned and will include comic book writers and artists including 2000AD and Judge Dredd’s Michael Carroll and actor Matthew Dale who has appeared in the likes of Star Wars Rogue One and Doctor Who.

Another major attraction is the cosplay competition which brings an explosion of colour to Enniscorthy as people dress up as their favourite superheros and comic book characters in the hopes of winning some wonderful prizes. Also making an appearance again is the Star Wars 501st Legion and Ghostbusters Ireland and there will be also a chance to get to grips with some of your favourite old school games with Retro-gaming.

The event is taking place in aid of the Jack & Jill Foundation and donations will be accepted at the door and there will also be a big auction for the cause.

For more details on the programme of events, check out the Cosmic Rebels Con Facebook page.
