22 OF THE VERY BEST!

THE SECOND annual Garda Youth Awards honoured the achievements of 22 different recipients at an event in Wexford County Council, writes Anna Hayes. The event, which received more than 70 nominations, was a great success, and Inspector Denis Whelan thanked all those who had nominated people and supported the event, saying it was encouraging to see just how much young people in the county were achieving. The awards, which are held in conjunction with Wexford County Council are aimed at honouring young people who are a credit to their communities. The judges had a difficult time whittling the number down to 22, such was the wealth of talent and achievement showcased by all of the nominees. Winners came from all over the county, excelling in a variety of different areas from sport to music and academia, as well as many who overcame their own personal difficulties to inspire those around them.
