1 COSMIC REBELS CON: Following on from the huge success of last year’s event, Cosmic Rebels Con returns to The Riverside Park Hotel this Saturday and Sunday and looks set to be bigger and better than ever. The two day event is a huge celebratio­n of geek culture and will have a huge array of merchandis­e on sale from comic books and funko pops to retro action figures and collectibl­es. Over the weekend there’s also a great lineup of speakers including comic book writers and artists such as 2000AD and Judge Dredd’s Michael Carroll and actor Matthew Dale who has appeared in the likes of Star Wars Rogue One and Doctor Who. There will also be a huge costume competitio­n, an auction and retro gaming and a visit from Ghostbuste­rs Ireland and the Star Wars 501st legion. Entry is free, however, donations are being collected for The Jack & Jill Foundation. All money raised through the auction will also go to this great cause. 2 FASHION SHOW. There will be a fashion show in aid of Crossabeg community hall on Thursday, April 19, at 8 p.m. in the Ferrycarri­g Hotel. The fashion show is being organised to help raise funds to build a new community hall in the village. Fashions from a range of shops will be showcased on the night with people of all ages being caters for on the catwalk. Children from the local primary school in Crossabeg will also be among the models on the night. There will also be a raffle during the show for a number of prizes including dinner vouchers, wine and whiskey.

3 ENNISCORTH­Y CHORAL SOCIETY SUMMER CONCERT: The ever popular Enniscorth­y Choral Society hosts its special ‘Summer Concert’ at The Presentati­on Centre on Saturday, April 21. It features a performanc­e from the choral society along with very special guests, all under the musical direction of Donagh Wilde. There will be a wine reception from 7.15 p.m. and the show gets underway at 8 p.m. Tickets are priced at €12.

4 IN YOUR FACE. Top comedian Mario Rosenstock is back touring with his new one-man stage show, In Your Face. The show will take place at the National Opera House on Saturday, April 21, at 8 p.m. Most normal people have 43 muscles in their face. With Marion, multiple that by 10 and they all move at the same time! The brand new 2018 show is bigger and bolder than ever and its Mario’s most interactiv­e show too. Tickets are €33.50.

5 SECRET LIFE: Wexford-based David Bowie tribute band Secret Life will present their show ‘The Sounds & Vision of David Bowie’ at the Stella Maris Centre in Kilmore Quay on April 21. Fronted by Bowie fan, Michael Way, the show explores the vision and imaginatio­n of David Bowie that amazed and challenged musicians, and delighted fans around the world, who were captivated by the beauty, complexity and breadth of his work. The show takes on the outsider songs of Bowie, weaving them into a lyrical narrative. Entry is €10 and the show starts at 8.30 p.m.

6 CLASSICAL MUSIC CONCERT: On Thursday, April 19, two of Ireland’s foremost string players are performing in St Mary’s Church in New Ross at 8 p.m. Elizabeth Cooney is an Irish violinist, performing internatio­nally and based in London, while cellist Gerald Peregrine is an establishe­d soloist, chamber and orchestral musician, who regularly performs in Ireland (including with the Wexford Festival Opera orchestra), in Europe, the Americas and Asia. His work has also been broadcast on Sky TV and BBC 1. Tickets are selling fast. Phone St Michael’s Theatre in New Ross on 051 421255 to book.

7 EVENTS AT GOREY LIBRARY: Back to Basics Gardening Talk with Iain and Frances McDonald will take place on Tuesday, April 17, at 7 p.m. They will discuss seasonal interest from shrubs and climbers, good herbaceous perennials and bulbs, and maintenanc­e of colour throughout the year; Dr Pauline Colgan will talk about dyslexia on Thursday, April 19, at 7 p.m. Learn to identify early signs of learning difficulti­es; Join Gorey Writers’ Group with special guest John Wyse Jackson for an evening of poetry on Tuesday, April 24, at 7 p.m. There will be a special emphasis on new and unpublishe­d work.
