Billy to launch literary festival in Enniscorthy

-

THE FIFTH annual Wexford Literary Festival will be launched by Billy Roche at Enniscorthy Castle on April 26 at 7.30 p.m.

This year, the event will run from November 2 to 4 and will see four writing awards presented: the Billy Roche One-Act Play Award; Colm Tóibín International Short Story Award; Children’s Book Trailer Award; and the Anthony Cronin International Poetry Award.

The festival has gone from strength to strength over the past five years and is now a vibrant event that connects, inspires and informs writers and readers of all ages. Chaired by Sunday Times bestseller Carmel Harrington, the committee also includes Caroline Busher as vice-chairperson, Maria Nolan as secretary, Sheila Forsey as PRO, Anne Gilpin as treasurer, Richie Cotter, Carol Long, Shane Dunphy and Imelda Carroll.

Some of the highlights of this year’s festival will be: the return of the Candlelit Evening in the Castle with teacup gin cocktails and a discussion between Carmel Harrington and a critically acclaimed author; an evening of short plays performed by Enniscorthy Drama Group; reader and writers day; and the writing awards ceremony.

The event is supported by Wexford County Council and Enniscorthy Municipal District Council. All are welcome to the launch - canapés and wine will be served.

The festival is currently seeking volunteers of all ages. For more information, email info@wexfordliteraryfestival.com. For further information on the festival, visit wexfordliteraryfestival.com.
