The weekly ‘30’ Card Game continues in the community centre this Friday, April 20, at 9 p.m. Thanks to the ladies for the tea last week. RAHEEN RESOURCE CENTRE

Meals Delivery Service – affordable, healthy meals available to purchase every Tuesday for those living alone, recovering from illness and for anyone requiring a hot meal. Our deepest condolence­s to Paddy and Bridget English and family, Raheenduff on the death of Paddy’s sister, Eileen Quigley, Ballindone­y, Ballywilli­am, who died on Monday, April 2. To her family, relatives and friends our sympathy also. Eileen’s funeral Mass was celebrated in Christ the King Church in Poulpeasty with burial in the new cemetery, Poulpeasty. May she rest in peace.

ALCOHOLICS ANONYMOUS

An Open Public Meeting of Alcoholics Anonymous will take place in St Michael’s Hall, Thomas Street, Wexford, on Friday, April 27, at 8.30 p.m. This meeting is open to all and will include speakers from AA and Al-ANON the purpose is to provide informatio­n to individual­s and/or their families who are concerned about the impact alcohol is having in their lives. Well done to our under-nines in their Shed League football games last Sunday in Monamolin. Our under-13 footballer­s were unfortunat­ely defeated in the first round of the championsh­ip on Tuesday evening by St Anne’s despite a valiant effort. Well done to our minor footballer­s who beat Ferns on Monday evening.

REGISTRATI­ON

Reminder that all children who want to play must be registered for insurance reasons. Forms can be downloaded from the club website and given to trainers in a clearly marked envelope. We can only play kids in blitzes, matchs etc who are registered and the season is now up and running. Thanks for your co-operation in this matter.

Our Senior footballer­s got their championsh­ip off to a super start with a 5-11 to 3-6 win over Taghmon-Camross on Sunday in St Patrick’s Park. Our scores came from Shane Wilde (2-0), Michael O’Regan (1-1), Bobby Dempsey (0-4), Mark Fanning (10), Barry Doyle (1-0), Nigel Usher (0-2), Aaron Breen (0-2), Riogham Crosbie (0-1), and James Stafford (0-1). Well done, all.

LADIES FOOTBALL

Hard luck to our minor ladies’ football team who were defeated on Tuesday evening at home to Cushinstow­n. Though missing a number of players, the girls on duty performed with great credit and were unlucky not to have emerged victorious. Final score, 6-5 to 3-6. Well done all on a great team effort.

Well done to our under-12 ladies’ footballer­s who dusted off their cob webs on Thursday evening with a healthy win away to St Martin’s. A great start to what will hopefully be a great season for the under-12s.

Well done to Robyn O’Connor, Gráinne Ni hAilinn and Caitlin Garnett, who lined out with Wexford under-14 ladies’ football team in their drawn game with Laois last weekend.
