Feasibility report due on Rosslare Europort to Waterford greenway

-

A FEASILIBITY, Route Selection and Economic Report on the proposed Greenway between Rosslare Europort and Waterford City is due to be finalised next month. The report, which is being prepared by consultants, Roughan O’Donovan, is currently at the latter stages of completion. The firm is also looking at baseline environmental studies and a source in Wexford County Council confirmed that a framework has been established so that the top five applicants, in relation to future use of the Greenway and other tourism projects, can be utilised in a manner that is time-efficient and cost-effective.

It’s also hoped that by having five potential applicants in place it will reduce the complexities of progressing the Greenway and other tourism initiatives.

Wexford County Council is also the lead authority for the regional Greenway office and it’s currently preparing a strategy for the region that would link greenway routes as a type of overall South East Greenways trail.

In his latest monthly report the Chief Executive Officer, Tom Enright (pictured left), said the brief for services relating to the design and tender of the proposed regional Greenway route has been completed.

It’s expected that will go to tender later this month.

If fully developed it’s hoped a regional Greenway network could become a major tourist attraction for this part of the country.
