COMMUNITY CENTRE AGM

The committee of Crossabeg-Ballymurn Community Centre Development were delighted to welcome a large crowd to its annual general meeting which was held in Kyle Forge on Tuesday night of last week.

Opening the meeting, Interim chairperson Tom Bermingham paid tribute to the hard work and dedication of previous committee members.

Tom went on to inform the meeting that further grant aid of €44,000 towards construction of the community centre building had been awarded. Drawings of the proposed centre were on display and there was some discussion about how and when the development would proceed.

Outgoing committee members described how after many years given over to the vital development of pitches, the time was now right to push ahead with the building of the centre.

An innovative community fundraiser is at an advanced stage of development and will be rolled out shortly. This will provide an important boost to existing resources enabling the earliest start possible for construction.

In response to a call to serve on a revitalised committee, the following were elected: Tom Bermingham, Sheila Kelly, Pat Gately, Bobby Kenny, Donnacha McDonald, Geraldine Cullen, Sharon Miller, Avril Murphy, Bernie Kiely, Billy Sweetman, Tommy Kinlough, Fergus Moore, Helen Moore – Kearney, Katie Foley, Mick Jarvis, Mick McLoughlin, Sinéad Bishop, Kathleen Downes and Mary Keating.

Further details of the annual general meeting will be made available on the community centre’s Facebook page.
