ROWING CLUB

Get Going and Get Rowing with Edermine Ferry Rowing Club. If you would like to try a new form of sport and fitness they are hosting an introducto­ry rowing session on Sunday, April 29, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., weather permitting.

Children must be aged 10 in 2018 to participat­e and there is no upper age limit for adults – all participan­ts must register their details with club on the day. No experience is necessary and life-jackets are provided. Wear warm comfortabl­e sportswear, runners and bring the raingear.

COMMUNITY PLAYSCHOOL

GALBALLY TRACTOR RUN

The annual Galbally Tractor Run in aid of Galbally parish funds will take place on Sunday, May 27, Bree CEP Project.

Bree CEP Project Ltd is currently seeking applicants for the following positions; Childcare Assistants, General Maintenanc­e, Clerical Assistant and Community Centre Cleaner. For further informatio­n contact Project Office 053 9247613.

ACTIVE RETIREMENT

The group have an outing to the Arboretum in Carlow on April 25 A deposit of €10 will be taken up at the social. The bus will leave Bree Community Centre at 11 a.m. Please note change of date and time. Enquiries to 086 0747823.

COMMUNITY GAMES

Bree-Davidstown Community Games members have been very busy in recent weeks. Hazel Breen, Sarah Lillis, Fred Devereux, Luke Jordan, Matthew Murphy, Rosanna McCauley, Sacha McCauley, Jack Browne, Sam Devereux, Oisin Harte competed in the County Art Finals in Castlebrid­ge. Oisin Harte won the under-10 gold medal and Fred Devereux won the under-eight gold medal and will represent Wexford in the national finals later in the year. Sam Devereux was second to Oisin and won the silver medal. Emily Dunne won the bronze medal in the under-12 Handwritin­g County Final which was also held in Castlebrid­ge. Also taking part in the handwritin­g were Jarleth Kelly, Orlaith Flynn and Muireann Cooper. Harry Devereux will also represent Wexford in the national finals in under-12 Model Making.

On Sunday last, April 15, Bree-Davidstown was represente­d by three teams in the intercount­y rounds in Carlow IT the Mini Rugby team of Bill Blyth, Laurance Cloke, Tom Dunne, Cathal Ennis, Tom Finn, Conn Fraser, Charlie Kehoe, Daire Kehoe, Tom Murphy, Jack O’Leary, Oliver Treacy and James Wall played their hearts out against Tullow, Co Carlow. The teams were tied, five tries each, after full time. After six minutes of extra time of a very exciting match, the score was 7-6 to Tullow. Well done to the team and to their mentor Andy Fraser. The under-10 team of Oisin Harte, Fergal Doyle, Riona Kehoe, Sacha McCauley, Luke Jordan, Matthew Jordan and Roisa Fraser were beaten by Bennekerry Co Carlow team 16-4 in the intercount­y Draughts whereas the under-16 Chess team of Ml Humphrey, Ordhan Kehoe, Cormac Kehoe, Ml Roche and Nicholas Howe received a bye into the Leinster Finals. Team mentors were Jim Doyle and Martin Humphrey.

Bree-Davidstown will be in action again over the coming days. Best wishes to those taking part in the Talent county finals in Bree on Saturday, April 28, to those taking part in the Co Gymnastics on Sunday, 29th in Gorey and to those taking part in the Co Debating Final on Thursday, May 3.
