CONFIRMATI­ON

Congraulat­ions to the sixth class pupils of Barntown National School, who gathered together with their friends and families in Barntown Church to receive the Holy Sacrament of Confirmati­on on April 14.

The hard work and dedication in preparing the 30 children, was evident on the day. Thanks to all involved – teachers, parents and of course Bishop Brennan, Fr Carroll and Fr Stafford.

FIRST CONFESSION

First Confession also took place in Barntown during last week. Many thanks to Patrice McGillicud­dihy for excellent work in preparing the Holy Communion class for First Confession which was a memorable and inspiring service.

PARISH APP LAUNCH

Join us on Tuesday, May 8, in the Riverside Park Hotel, Enniscorth­y for the launch of the new Website. Bishop Denis Brennan will be in attendance together with Guest speaker Breda O’Brien – Irish Times Journalist. See you all at 7.30 p.m.

CONDOLENCE­S

Sympathy is extended to Siobhán Whelan and family, Barntown on the recent untimely loss of her brother Kieran. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this sad time. May he Rest In Peace.

CAMOGIE

Our under-16 camogie team kicked off their championsh­ip with an impressive start defeating Cloughbawn away 3-10 to 1-5 on Thursday evening.

DISCO – The camogie club disco on Friday, April 27, 8.30 p.m. to 11 p.m. for First and Second years only is now SOLD OUT.

COISTE NA NÓG

Our Féile hurlers bowed out at semi-final stage to Shelmalier­s by a mere point in Ferns on Sunday having defeated Rathnure and drawing with Buffers Alley even after extra time. Hard luck, boys.

Hard luck to our under-13 footballer­s who were defeated by Castletown away on Tuesday evening.

Well done to our minor hurlers who notched up a great win over Horeswood on Monday evening in Killurin 2-12 to 0-2.

Our under-15 footballer­s were unfortunat­ely beaten by Naomh Éanna on Thursday evening with a final scoreline of 1-9 to 0-5.

SENIOR GAA

Our Senior footballer­s lost out to a strong outfit in the form of reigning county champions Starlights in Hollymount last Friday night 3-9 to 0-8.

LADIES FOOTBALL

Well done to our Féile ladies’ footballer­s who won all four games at Féile on Sunday defeating Bannow-Ballymitty, St Martin’s, St James and Kilmore and have now qualified for a semi-final spot which was due to take place duringvthe week but was postponed because of the poor weather conditions.

Well done to our three club girls representi­ng Wexford in under-12 soccer last week in Cork – Jane Murphy, Jelina McNamara and Grace Corrigan.
