-

THE Riverside Park Hotel celebrated twenty years at the heart of the community in Enniscorthy recently and as owner Colm Neville and General Manager Jim Maher cut the special celebratory cake, there were plenty of reflections on just how far the management and staff have come and precious memories made.

While the Riverside regularly rolls out the red carpet to people from all over the country and, indeed, from across the globe, it has also taken on great importance within the local community in Enniscorthy. It has been the site of weddings, birthdays, retirements, christenings, communions, confirmations and countless other family events, as well as just being a great place for locals to drop in for a chat and a cup of coffee in beautiful surroundings beside the River Slaney. The wonderful team at The Riverside Park Hotel will have shared in many happy occasions, with a few members of staff having been there since the day the doors opened in 1998 and many more with over 15 years of service. It’s this wonderful familiarity and warmth that keeps customers coming back for more.

With the aim of creating one of the finest hotels the South East has to offer, owner Colm Neville has invested heavily in upgrading the hotel over the years, taking it to the award winning heights it currently enjoys. When the doors first opened, the Riverside was a three star hotel with 60 bedrooms and 60 staff. Fast forward 20 years and it’s now among the finest four star hotels in the South East, providing employment for 204 people locally.

Among the additions in that period were the Alamo Restaurant and the Leisure Centre in 2004, the addition of a Penthouse Suite in 2008, the family rooms in 2011 which was also the year that the hotel achieved four star status, the addition of a further 42 bedrooms between 2014 and 2017 and the latest renovation - a significant investment in upgrading the Hilton Edwards Ballroom.

The Riverside Park Hotel has been a source of many happy memories for many people. In particular, over 2,000 wedding couples have celebrated their big day at the hotel, benefiting from years of experience on the part of the wedding staff who take all the stress from your big day and ensure everything goes off without a hitch. With the upgrades to the Hotel’s ballroom, including elegant mood lighting and new fitted windows to make the most of the panoramic views of The River Slaney, there’s sure to be plenty more happy memories made going forward. It’s no surprise that the hotel managed to scoop the prestigious 2017 South East Wedding Venue of the Year award. Grooms and brides-to-be will have the chance to take a complete look around the hotel and see just what makes it so special at the Wedding Showcase which takes place on May 24.

As well as hosting weddings and all kinds of family occasions, The Riverside Park Hotel has also gained a wonderful reputation for hosting conferences and events of varying sizes. Over the years, they’ve done it all, hosting everything from major national and international conferences such as the NZEB

Conference opened by Tánaiste Simon Coveney, to the glitz and glamour of a major film première for ‘Brooklyn’. The hotel also regularly plays host to a wonderful array of live entertainment with everyone from Nathan Carter to Christy Moore who will perform at the hotel in June. In addition to the spectacular Hilton Edwards Ballroom, the Riverside also has the smaller Seamus Rafter Suite, meaning that it can comfortably host events and conferences of all sizes.

In short, The Riverside Park Hotel has been a wonderful addition to Enniscorthy over the past twenty years, attracting thousands of people to this beautiful historic town and providing vital employment for hundreds of people along the way. The management are well aware that it is only with the loyalty and support of their valued customers, along with a dedicated staff, that they have been able to achieve all they have in a relatively short period of time. They look forward to welcoming you with a range of offers to celebrate the twenty-year milestone over the coming months and hope to remain at the heart of historic Enniscorthy for many more years to come.
