Celebrity portraits in Matt’s exhibition
AN Enniscorthy artist who now lives in the West of Ireland will currently hosting a major exhibition in Galway.
Matt Doyle who is a native of Enniscorthy hosted his first major exhibition in five years and due to popular demand the exhibition has been extended for a month running at the Zetland Country House Hotel in Connemara until May 31.
Matt who now lives in Mayo has been a professional artist, musician and singer for many years. His early career saw him take the lead role in many musicals throughout the South East of Ireland and London including the famous Royal Albert Hall, guesting with the Emerald Show band.
Over the years he has had a very successful career as both a professional portrait artist and singer both at home and abroad.
Matt is also a renowned artist and sculptor specialising in portraiture in various mediums, from musicians to actors, politicians to literary figures. He has worked with numerous celebrities such as Shane McGowan, Don Baker, Brendan Gleeson, Christy Moore, John B. Keane to name but a few. Many of the celebrities have signed his works making them unique and very collectible. His works have been featured on numerous television shows including RTE’s Nationwide.
His recent collection of Irish country stars such as Big Tom, Margo, Dermot Hegarty, Philomena Begley and many more, are fast becoming a Hall of Fame and have attracted a huge interest from the music industry in his work at home and abroad
Matt’s mixed media collection of Irish myths and legends, showcases his diverse creative ability and his great love of Irish history and folklore. This collection includes Grace O’Malley, the Irish Pirate Queen from Clare Island, Queen Maeve, Deirdre of the Sorrows, The Road to Tir Na Nog, King Lir and Cu Cumhlainn. He has also hand sculpted beautiful pieces in clay such as James Joyce, The Celtic Warrior. The Happy Fisherman and Back From The Sea.
His Galway exhibition showcases Matt’s very versatile imagination and is a rare opportunity to see legends past and resent come to life, through various mediums.
