Major boost for school lunch providers

-

AN Enniscorthy firm has become the first and only supplier of school lunches in Ireland to obtain the ISO 22000 accreditation from the National Standards Authority of Ireland (NSAI).

Freshtoday on the Old Dublin Road started from humble beginnings in 2010, getting its first major break when then Principal of St Senan’s PS, Henry Goff, saw merit in supporting a local company to provide high quality lunches for the school. His faith was rewarded and soon Principal at St Aidan’s NS Mr Peter Creedon followed suit, which was another pivotal moment in setting the company on its current trajectory, now employing a total of 42 staff.

As a result of this latest award from NSAI, Freshtoday is now proudly listed among prestigious brands and multinational corporations and it has come as a major boost to management and staff. They received the award for the Food Safety Management System they have in operation for the sourcing, purchasing, preparation, production and delivery of school lunches throughout the southeast of Ireland.

‘The award was testament to the years of hard work invested in the company by an outstanding team,’ said Managing Director Brian McGee. ‘Every employee has played their part in making this accreditation possible’.

Last year Mr Robert Browne, a 30 year veteran of the industry, was appointed Operations Manager and has been a major influence in guiding the company towards obtaining this award.

Sales and Marketing Manager Mr Rory McCauley said that Freshtoday was also committed to supporting local food producers and employ local people. The management wished to thank their hard-working employees, schools and the local community for all their help in their recent success.
