VINTAGE ROAD RUN
Blackwater Vintage Club’s annual vintage tractor, bike and car road run will take place on Sunday, May 20, leaving Blackwater church carpark at 12.30. Registration from 11.30 a.m. in Blackwater Hall. Proceeds to MS South Wexford branch.
GAA CLUB NOTES
Fixtures for the week: Junior B hurling championship this evening (Tuesday) v Clonard in Coolcotts at 7.15. The under-13 footballers also play this evening at 7.30 v Starlights. On Thursday the under-15s play Marshalstown-Castledockrell in football at home at 7.30 p.m. On Friday Junior B Hurling Championship continues against Kilmore at home at 7.15. Then on Monday the intermediate hurlers play Askamore in the league at seven away. The Leinster Hurling League Quarter Final is fixed for this Saturday but at the time of writing the draw hasn’t been made but game will be at home.
The Junior B hurlers enjoyed a good win over Crossabeg-Ballymurn recently winning 0-18 to 3-05 in the first round of the championship.
Scoil Naomh Bhride boys enjoyed a large win over Crossabeg-Ballymurn in the Rackard League. They will probably have to play off to see who goes through to the Roinn A quarter final and Roinn B Quarter Final.
Under-20 hurlers had a heavy defeat at the hands of HWH Bunclody. The lads were missing a few players. The under-15 hurlers enjoyed a large win over Ferns winning 5-12 to 0-05. Brian Óg scoring a hat trick with Séamus Walsh and Jason Wallace with the goals.
The annual Blackwater golf classic takes place in St Helen’s Golf Club Rosslare on June 2. Team of four €200 and includes a meal. Lots of prizes to be won.
We would love to know if there is any old memorabilia in the parish, old jerseys, old hurling balls, old medals etc as we would love to photograph these before they are lost to the ages. If so please email dexleary@gmail.com.
