COMMUNITY GAMES

The area finals of the Athletic events will take place in the community field in Garrywilli­am on Thursday, May 17, registrati­on is at 6 p.m and the events get under way at 6.45 p.m. Admission is €2 for adults and €1 for children. The local committee are asking parents to lend a hand on the evening, as the committee has only a few members, who cannot possibly take on all the activities.

CÚL CAMPS

The Shelmalier GAA Club will hold two camps during the summer. They have two dates. Two Camps, double the fun. Get your name in early for the Cul Camp games. They will be held in Hollymount with week 1 taking place from July 16 to July 20 and week 2 from July 30 to August 3.

FIT-NUTZ

Fit-Nutz are a walking/running group in Castlebrid­ge. They will have classes for all areas and levels, whether you want to walk or couch to 5k program. They will also have other weekly classes including intensity training and core strengthen­ing. It is only €5 for the week and they also have two classes mid week – Tuesday at 7.30 p.m and Friday at 7 p.m. All these events at Hollymount GAA pitch. CURRACLOE SCHOOL NEWS

Congratula­tions to recent splitthe-pot draw was Mary O’Carroll, who won €96. Envelopes are available for €2 each in local Curracloe village businesses, or in the school.

The children from Curracloe School Music Group took part in the Junior Féile in Carrick-on-Bannow on Sunday, April 29th. Everyone performed really well on the day and did themselves and their hard working music teachers Mrs Torpey and Marie Torpey proud. Medal winners on the day included Seán Redmond 1st U12 Button Accordion, Rían Ormonde 3rd U12 Button Accordion, Seán Moran 2nd U12 Lilting, Laura Canning, Josh Kinsella & Rían Ormonde 3rd U12 Trio, Mary Harding Kenny & Mia Murphy 3rd U10 Duet, Mary Harding- Kenny, Lucy McCormack & Eilís Moran 3rd U10 Trio and Gearóid Moran 3rd U6 Lilting and Singing.

The children are now preparing for their next events which include the County Fleadh which will take place on Sunday, May 13 and their performanc­e for the residents of Kerlogue Nursing Home on June 1. Well done to all involved.

CASTLEBRID­GE SHOW

At a recent meeting of the Castlebrid­ge Show committee, the date was set for the 78th Castlebrid­ge Horticultu­re and Agricultur­e show so it is time to get busy in your gardens. The committee hope that everyone is looking forward to this year’s show which will be held on Sunday, August 12, The preparatio­ns are all under way for another brilliant show day. The committee are also in the process of organising a garden talk in Castlebrid­ge community garden and a baking demonstrat­ion in the community centre. Dates to be confirmed.

CONDOLENCE­S

Castlebrid­ge Show committee would like to extend their sympathy to the Beary family, Wexford, on the recent death of John Beary. John attended the show for many years to perform with St Patrick’s Fife and drum band. May he rest in peace.

GAA CLUB NEWS

The numbers drawn in the Shelmalier GAA developmen­t lotto draw were 2, 3, 12 and 13.There were two match-three winners, Dennis Corrigan and Catherine Slater. The next jackpot is worth €3,600.

The Junior B hurlers secured a draw when they met St Martin’s recently in Hollymount in the District campaign.

Well done to the under-15 boys who had a good win against Oylegate on a scoreline of 4-04 to 2-06. The boys had a slow start and were 1-03 down after 15 minutes, by half time the boys had worked their way back to 1-05 to 0-05. The team had a higher intensity and better work rate in the second half and this laid the platform for some good defending and good scores.

FIELD DAY

Curracloe United AFC will hold a field day will take place on Sunday, May 13, from 2.30 p.m – 5.30 p.m in the River field (Curracloe United Complex) There will be a barbecue on the day and lots of fun activities. All are welcome to this great day out.

OPEN DAY

Artraman House is the place to be on Sunday, June 3, when the lovely grounds will be open once again to the public. These fabulous grounds are a sight to behold and the children love to wander around the Fairy garden. Tea and coffee and refreshmen­ts will also be available.
