THE Gorey Adult Ed­u­ca­tion Cen­tre is now en­rolling for its Septem­ber train­ing pro­grammes.

The cen­tre of­fers a wide range of both full and part time train­ing pro­grammes that cater for all ages, ed­u­ca­tional lev­els and sub­ject in­ter­ests.

Vo­ca­tional Train­ing Op­por­tu­nity Scheme (VTOS) – Full-time

Fur­ther ed­u­ca­tion cour­ses are ideal for sec­ond chance adult learn­ers over the age of 21 and not in em­ploy­ment. Ma­ture stu­dents and early school leavers of­ten pur­sue VTOS with the in­ten­tion of try­ing a new ca­reer or area of study be­fore com­mit­ting to a third level de­gree. Equally many VTOS learn­ers ac­quire skills and knowl­edge that al­lows them to progress di­rectly to em­ploy­ment in a range of ar­eas.

The Vo­ca­tional Train­ing Op­por­tu­nity Scheme (VTOS) in Gorey, will be avail­able to talk to the public on the 24th May about sup­ports on of­fer in their Cen­tre, where adult stu­dents can learn about study skills and how to write as­sign­ments, of­ten a daunt­ing task for peo­ple who have not been in ed­u­ca­tion in re­cent years or may have left school early.

Back to Ed­u­ca­tion Ini­tia­tive (BTEI) - PART­TIME cour­ses

Back to Ed­u­ca­tion Ini­tia­tive is about set­ting the wheels of de­vel­op­ment in mo­tion, not just aca­dem­i­cally, but in all as­pects of the learner’s life – per­sonal, emo­tional and so­cial. It is about in­creas­ing aware­ness of ex­ist­ing op­por­tu­ni­ties, chang­ing mind­sets, build­ing con­fi­dence and re­la­tion­ships, em­pow­er­ment and not least, ad­vanc­ing ed­u­ca­tion lev­els.

We will be avail­able to talk on the 24th May in the Fur­ther Ed­u­ca­tion and Train­ing Cen­tre, Civic Square about planned part­time cour­ses for Septem­ber – Of­fice Skills, Skills for Shop work, Culi­nary Skills and En­gi­neer­ing Skills.

Wwetb Wex­ford Adult Lit­er­acy Pro­gramme pro­vides high qual­ity adult ba­sic ed­u­ca­tion and lit­er­acy sup­port for peo­ple who wish to im­prove and build on their skills.

Com­mu­nity Ed­u­ca­tion

The Com­mu­nity Ed­u­ca­tion pro­gramme sup­ports in­for­mal learn­ing op­por­tu­ni­ties that con­trib­utes to the de­vel­op­ment of the lo­cal com­mu­nity. WWETB is cur­rently re­cruit­ing for Com­mu­nity Quilt­ing and Cook­ing on a Bud­get cour­ses start­ing in Gorey Septem­ber 2018.

In ad­di­tion, grants and tu­tor hours are avail­able to com­mu­nity groups. Each ap­pli­ca­tion is in­di­vid­u­ally as­sessed. Due to the vol­ume of ap­pli­ca­tions re­ceived pri­or­ity is given to: Groups who or­gan­ise com­mu­nity ed­u­ca­tion pro­grammes for peo­ple who may face acute barriers to tak­ing part in ed­u­ca­tion: Older peo­ple, Women ex­pe­ri­enc­ing dis­ad­van­tage, Peo­ple with dis­abil­i­ties, Trav­ellers, Eth­nic mi­nor­ity groups, Un­em­ployed, Lone par­ents, Men ex­pe­ri­enc­ing dis­ad­van­tage, Car­ers and Ex-of­fend­ers.
