Hospital visitation members needed

THE WEXFORD branch of St Vincent de Paul is looking for new members to join its Hospital Visitation Conference.

An open meeting on the topic will take place in St Michael’s House, Green Street, Wexford, on Tuesday, June 5, at 7 pm.

Conference members, in pairs, visit nursing homes across the county every fortnight by prior arrangement.

A spokesperson for the organisation told this newspaper that the visits are conducted under the auspices of St Vincent de Paul and involve conversation and companionship.

‘The visits do not involve any practical support other than the gift of a person’s time,’ said the spokesperson.

The information evening event is expected to take around one hour and anyone interested in getting involved is invited to attend.

‘Assistance on the process of Garda vetting will be provided as this will be required for all new members,’ said the spokesperson.
