A FAB OPEN EVENING AT CHILDCARE CENTRE

-

THE FAB Huggie Bears Childcare service held a very successful open night recently during which its wide range of supports and activities were showcased.

The centre is operated under the banner of FAB (Ferndale, Ashfield and Belvedere) CDP Ltd and offers high quality, accessible, and affordable childcare in a safe environment.

The service is managed by Kay Stafford and her team of highly qualified and professionally trained staff. The centre is one of the most highly regarded facilities of its type in the town and as part of its ongoing plans for expansion it recently employed a pre-school inclusion co-ordinator to help facilitate the access of children with special needs into the service.

The facility offers parents and guardians the Free Preschool Year (Ecce programme) and from this coming September children from two years and eight months will be eligible for enrolment.

Speaking to this newspaper about the centre, Ms Stafford highlighted the fact the facilty also offers the Community Childcare Subvention Programme which is specifically aimed at parents on low incomes – helping them avail of reduced childcare costs.

The centre’s curriculum is based on Siolta and Aistear standards which is the national quality framework for early childhood education.

‘Each child in our care is unique and very precious [and] we lay the foundations for all our children to build on their future career by having an emergent curriculum in place,’ said Ms Stafford.

The centre focusses attention on the transition from pre-school to primary education meaning the children’s journey into ‘big school’ is as smooth as possible.

The open night was a great success as it afforded parents and guardians the opportunity to see the wide range of supports offered by the childcare service. The management and staff in the centre thanked the parents for attending on the open night and they also thanked everyone who contributed to making the event a success.
