EIGHT HOLIDAY HOMES INVESTIGATED BY CAB
THE CRIMINAL Assets Bureau is investigating eight holiday homes in County Wexford, according to a senior figure within the organisation.
Speaking at this month’s meeting of Wexford County Council’s Joint Policing Committee (JPC), Detective Chief Superintendent Patrick Clavin revealed that eight properties in the county have been under investigation over the last year.
He said some of the investigations carried out by the organisation are based on tip-offs received from people who suspect someone’s lifestyle is being funded by crime.
Chief Supt Clavin also commented that CAB is not in favour of proposals to introduce smaller regional CAB units but instead supports training of local Gardaí and people from other agencies as asset profilers.
He then urged people to make contact with CAB if they suspect someone’s lifestyle is being funded by crime: ‘If you suspect that someone’s lifestyle is paid for by crime then contact us today so can make them pay and take it away.’
The committee members were told a particular focus of the organisation is aimed at lavish holiday homes and expensive cars – especially in situations where the people who own them have no obvious means of income.
He said anyone with information they would like to forward to CAB can do so through info@cab.ie or by contacting their local Garda station to liaise with one of the CAB trained officers.
