New store aims to give people the best food for a lower cost

-

TO celebrate the opening of The Pet Experts store in Wexford, The Pet Experts are offering 15% Off

everything in store until June 30 to welcome new customers. Every animal lover will agree on one thing: pets are part of the family, and at the newly opened The Pet Experts store in Selskar, the team hopes to offer the best service for the best price.

The store’s mission is to teach people about nutrition for animals, acknowledging that in a world with huge advertising campaigns from the well-known brands, it is not always easy to tell if something is the best product for your pet. The store aims to give people the best food for a lower cost - no fancy packaging, just the best ingredients and in smaller quantities so as not to leave a hole in the customer’s pocket.

The store is all about the natural approach, with higher meat contents, natural ingredients and grain free foods.

The store also provides a range of services to keep pets and customers happy. Check out our facebook page with its daily updates and videos on www.facebook.com/thepetexperts.

Day Care is offered six days a week from 8.30 a.m. to 6.30 p.m. This is a great service for dogs that are home alone during the day or need some extra socialising and fun play time with other dogs. The Pet Experts also provide dogs with training and walks during the day - your dog is sure to sleep well after a day at day care! Prices are €12.50 for a full day and €8 for a half day. Boarding facilities are also offered on a nightly and weekly basis, which gives the dog a spot in day care during the day.

The grooming salon is open seven days a week and is run by Head Groomer Bertha Kelly who will be well-known to many pet owners as she worked for five years in Petmania. The store’s second groomer, Tara O’Connor, also worked in Petmania and her love for dogs is plain to see. The groomers cater for all breeds and sizes, offering two pamper packages: the Natural Beauty package which is a natural facial scrub that helps reduce tear staining, nose balm and paw soothing treatment; and the Essential, which covers the previous package plus three month worming, flea treatments and anal glands.

Meet The Team

Karen Condren has worked in retail for over 17 years, starting out in the cosmetic industry but she always wanted to combine her talents for retail with her passion for animals. She has worked her way up from sales assistant to Store Manager and won Manager of the Year in Petmania. She has always had a love of animals and currently has a nine-year-old German Shepherd named Roxy, who is the shop mascot. She also has a house rabbit (who thinks she’s a dog!) and two parrots named Charlie and Fergus. Karen loves talking to people about their pets and giving them the best advice regarding nutrition and care.

Craig McCabe has worked in retail with animals for nearly five years, starting out as a sales assistant and fish expert in the Pet Retail Business before becoming assistant manager. He feels that consumers have a lot to learn about nutrition for pets and he is greatly interested in helping in this regard. Craig has a labrador and a pug/jack russell, as well as an African Grey parrot.

Dylan Berigan worked in the Pet Retail Business for nearly three years, learning a lot about pet nutrition and about how complex the dog food market could be. He believes that there is so much owners can do for their animals without it being an extra cost. He has worked with animals for seven years, spending a lot of time with horses, training and breaking them in. He currently has a number of cats, a parrot and a pony but is sure there will be further additions to this mix! His passion is in training dogs and teaching them the correct social behaviours.

Bertha Kelly did a grooming course ten years ago and receive a diploma in Animal Grooming. She volunteered at dog shelters before getting a full time job in the Pet Retail Business where her number of dogs expanded hugely. Bertha loves her job and finds it very rewarding. She has three dogs and two cats of her own and has always loved caring for animals; they are part of her family and all live inside. She says she is delighted to have her own grooming salon at The Pet Experts.

Tara O’Connor worked for the Pet Retail Business for nearly two years and qualified as a dog groomer during this time. It was something that she had always wanted to do and finds it a very rewarding job.
