Festy dons the green

ENNISCORTHY LAD Festy Ebosele, now on the books of Bray Wanderers after a stint with their sister club, St. Joseph’s (Sallynoggin), was selected by Republic of Ireland Under-16 head coach Paul Osam on a 20-strong squad for the UEFA Under-16 development tournament in Sweden, which ran from last Friday to today (Tuesday).

Their first outing was against the host country who forged a 2-0 victory in Lysekil, with both goals coming in the opening ten minutes. Festy played on the right flank up front for the entire game in a 4-3-3 formation.

There was a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Austria in game two on Sunday, with Obosele making an appearance off the bench as seven changes were made to the starting line-up.

The Under-16 players will end their season with a game against Turkey today (Tuesday) at 10 a.m. Irish time in Munkedal.
