Sewerage issues destroying villages
VILLAGES across County Wexford could soon lose their pub and post office Cllr Ger Carthy warned having heard that Irish Water has no plans to invest in several communities across the south east of the county.
Cllr Carthy spoke out at last week’s council meeting after Director of Services Eamonn Hore drew the councillors’ attention to the fact that the water utility company is investing around €70m in the county over the next three to five years.
An unimpressed Cllr Carthy said: ‘This is a policy problem. What are we, as a council, going to do about this? The pub will go in the next couple of years and the post office.’
