COMMUNITY CONCERT

For one night only, come along and see the wonderful talent of the children of Crossabeg national schools choir and the fantastic Wexford Ladies and Male Voice Choirs. The venue for the concert is Crossabeg church and it takes place on Sunday, May 27, There will be door prizes on the night of €200 cash donated by Hertz, and a gift voucher donated by Wexford Auto Factors. Tickets cost €10 for adults and €5 for a child. There is a limit of 250 tickets available so get yours booked as soon as possible. They are available at Crossabeg national school (053 9159035) and also at Mass in Crossabeg. Funds will be split 50/50 between the school and the parish.

FIRST COMMUNION

Congratula­tions to all the young boys and girls who received their First Holy Communion at a special ceremony in Crossabeg church recently. CASTLEBRID­GE SHOW

Preparatio­ns are under way for the 78th Castlebrid­ge Horticultu­re and agricultur­e show. So make sure and keep Sunday, August 12, free as the committee will have another fun filled day planned for all the family. With all this gorgeous weather that we are having at the moment, there is no better time to head out in the garden and start preparing your entries. The committee are also in the process of organising a garden talk in Castlebrid­ge community garden and a baking demonstrat­ion in the community centre. Dates to be confirmed. They look forward to seeing you there.

PATRONS

Dates for the Diary. The annual patron to Crossabeg church takes place on Saturday, June 30, with Mass in the graveyard at 7 p.m. The annual patron to Ballymurn cemetery takes place on Sunday, August 12, at 2 p.m.

CAMOGIE FUNDRAISER­S

There will be a cabaret in Mernagh’s Bar on Saturday, May 26, at 10 p.m. Tickets are €5 and are available on the door. A breakfast morning will be held in Oylegate community centre on Saturday, June 2, Safeguardi­ng info session

There will be a Safeguardi­ng informatio­n session in the Riverside Park hotel, Enniscorth­y on Monday, June 11, from seven to 9 p.m for Crossabeg and Ballymurn. All parish staff and volunteers are asked to attend. This session will focus on the practical ways in which we can ensure good safeguardi­ng so that the

SOCCER CLUB NEWS

Crossabeg AFC will hold their annual general meeting on Friday, May 25, in Kyle Forge, commencing at 7.30 p.m. All members, past and potential, are invited to attend. The end of year prize giving will take place after the AGM in Foley’s and all are invited to attend. The charity match will be held on Sunday, May 27at 11 a.m and all proceeds are in aid of the Hope Foundation.

OPEN DAY

Artraman House is the place to be on Sunday, June 3, when the lovely grounds will be open once again to the public. These fabulous grounds are a sight to behold and the children love to wander around the Fairy garden. Music will also be provided during the afternoon, so what better way to relax with a nice cup of tea or coffee and refreshmen­ts, while you take in the lovely grounds.

ATHLETICS

Day 1 of the County Athletic Juvenile championsh­ips were held on Sunday, May 13 at The Hub, Enniscorth­y. St. Kilklian`s AC had a good number of boys and girls competing for them. Well done to one and all on your achievemen­ts. Medals were won by Kara Morrissey (gold in the under 12 .100M) Emma McCarthy (gold in the U11 Shot Putt) Jack Forde (gold in the 250m hurdles U16, gold in the 100M, gold in the Long Jump) Paul Freeman (silver U18 High Jump; bronze in the 100M and bronze in the 600M) Anna Finan (bronze in the 250M Hurdles U15, bronze in the Long Jump) Many of the youngsters came through their sprint heats to the finals but just missed out on the medals, with Chloe Reck (4th in her final and also in the High Jump) and a fourth place also for Jodie Morrissey in the U14 Shot Putt. Amy Forde competed for Loreto Wexford in the Leinster Secondary Schools championsh­ips in Santry last week where she competed in the senior girls Hammer event. Well done Amy who finished in third place with a throw of 33.63m

COMMUNITY GAMES

Thanks to all the children who attended the area athletic finals in the community field in Crossabeg on Thursday evening last. Thanks to St. Killian`s AC who gave up a training night to facilitate the holding of the events, to all the parents who brought their children along to compete, to all who helped out at the assembly and finish lines and also with the field events and with stewarding and recording and medal presentati­ons. A special word of thanks to Nicky who spent a lot of time in the field, getting the track ready. Without all the help, it would have been very difficult to hold same. The local committee are indebted to all who assisted them.

YOUTH CLUB

The annual general meeting of Crossabeg Youth club will be held on Thursday, May 24, in Kyle Forge. Existing members and their parents and outgoing 6th class and their parents are encouraged to attend.

The Youth Club is a voluntary group run by parents with the help of the FDYS. As our teenagers break into the big world of secondary school and onto the next phase of their lives, the Club, held on a Friday night is a great place to come and meet up with their peers, play games, and generally hang out.

The organisers would like to take this opportunit­y to thank all the parents who helped out during the year, the school for the use of the hall, and most importantl­y all the boys and girls who attending throughout the year. You are all a great bunch of young people and they are looking forward to seeing you all next year.
