Liam Lynch played corner forward with Wexford CBS in a recent first year tournament which they won.

Rían Salmon received his medal for the Leinster B Hurling tournament which he played wing back with Wexford CBS Over 80 children were in the pitch and the arena last Thursday evening with parking spaces at a premium. Big congratulations to Brian Curran and all his helpers and of course to the existing people over the under-sevens who have worked with them since early March. It’s on at 6.15 every Thursday.

SENIOR ATHLETICS

One of the blue ribbon events for Wexford Athletics took place in glorious conditions in Murrintown on Friday week last for the county senior road race championships. Wexford Marathon Club wanted to make sure everyone competing had a true test with a challenging, tough hilly course. This did not deter the St Killian’s men who rose to the challenge.

Slaney Olympic Athletic Club Ger Forde made his intentions clear from the start and was not going to make it an easy run, when he set a scintillating pace from the gun. Niall Sheil kept him in sight and pushed hard over the last couple of kilometres to claw him back but Ger held strong to finish in a super time of 32 min 49 sec given the course. Niall had a great race and finished 20 seconds adrift in 33 min 09 with SBRs Paul Lynch taking the bronze medal in 34 min 53sec. Brian O’Shaughnessy dug deep and put in a great performance to get a sub 37 minutes to finish in a time of 36 min 47 to take 17th place.

Our newest member John Egan, showed he meant business to finish in a time of 37 min 53 sec for 24th place and will be a great addition to our club and our men’s team in the future. Well done to all involved and in particular to Wexford Marathon Club for hosting a super event and having a lovely spread afterwards which was really appreciated and welcomed by everyone.
