BRIDGETOWN PLC COURSE

Bridgetown College invite applications for our course as an introductory course to Information Technology Skills or as an advanced course where skills can be refined and updated.

Our PLC students enjoy a relaxed learning atmosphere which is totally different to the Leaving Certificate regime, where team teaching and self-guided learning are encouraged as well as tuition on a one-to-one basis. Learners work at their own pace to take on as much or as little of the course as they require. It is possible, in consultation with tutors, to complete the course over two years providing a chance for parents/ students/mature learners to complete four modules each year on a reduced timetable.

We are also keen to accept applications from students who did not progress to college following their Leaving Certificate exam in 2017 or previous years. Often students need a year out of the system to contemplate their future careers. We believe that this time is best spent on the PLC Course, thereby offering students the chance to improve their IT skills and prepare for the demands of further education with regard to preparing assignments, reports, projects in university or college.

We also accept applications from students who dropped out of school prior to the Leaving Certificate and offer an opportunity for all students to complete these PLC modules with supervised tuition tailored to the needs of each individual. No prior learning is necessary as all modules are taught on the basis that everyone is starting from the beginning.

All places are filled on a first come first served basis so please apply now rather than waiting till September.

TIDY TOWNS

Dog dirt is the scourge of the country and Rosslare is not immune, in fact we have lots of the stuff. Dog dirt is dangerous especially to the health of our children, if you don’t believe me google it. It is bad enough on your shoes or clothes but nobody wants to see a child loose his or her sight. So Dog Owners pick it up and bin it!

Great work has been done over the past week including Planting, Weeding, Watering, Painting and Litter picking. As always we welcome help in whatever form and from whoever, it is all about improving our community and good progress is being made.

Unfortunately there are a small number of people who feel entitled to dump their Household Rubbish wherever and whenever they wish.

A lot of effort and money has gone into up-grading the area around the Bottle Banks at the rear of the Toilet Block. Regardless, on Tuesday/Wednesday five Black Bin Bags full of domestic rubbish were actually thrown over the Bottle Bins into the closed off area.

Having talked with the Environmental Dept of Wexford Council it has been decided to operate new cameras in the area, this might or might not solve the problem but we do ask all people to be vigilant and help us in this matter before it gets out of hand. It is a case of just a few spoiling things for the majority.

We are in the process of introducing Community Notice Boards and we are asking for the co-operation of everyone to use the Boards rather than ‘Fly Posting ‘on the Electricity Poles/ lampposts etc. We all have to be more environmentally responsible and we have to consider the alternative methods of Advertising examples Face-Book, Emails, I Phones, Twitter and all the other electronic methods.

This Poster Free idea is not new in fact many towns in the county have successfully introduced it and their experience is that it is necessary to have full co-operation, we are providing alternatives and are asking for co-operation. Don’t forget – Mind Your Own Patch.
